APFS "Afterglow" -- NEW YORK LATELY -- February 13, 2010

Things were looking rough in the days leading up to this event, In the two weeks preceding the screening, we had a record breaking snowfall off totaling 79.6 inches. Three days before the show, it looked like we might have to cancel, but Annapolis city crews working around the clock began clearing the streets and the ban on driving was lifted.

I called NEW YORK LATELY director Gary King and apprised him of the situation and he said he was committed to coming down and supporting his film at our screening.

The result?

WE HAD A BLAST! Our committed independent film fans, sick of "cabin fever," came down to the RAMS HEAD ON STAGE and saw two trailers from Gary's upcoming films, WHAT'S UP LOVELY and DEATH OF THE DEAD, and then watched NEW YORK LATELY with Gary, his wife Susie, and actor Mark DiConzo. Afterward, Gary and Mark took to the stage for a Q&A about NEW YORK LATELY, as well as his other projects.

And guess what? We made a little video about it!

Special thanks to our volunteer, Victoria Emmons, for conducting the interview and to the Cafe 49 West for allowing us a quiet place to shoot it.  And as always, thanks to my wife Lisa and my son Alex for making sure everything ran smoothly.

Here are some pictures from the after-party down in the Rams Head Tavern's lower bar.

Despite the weather, a fun time was had by all. We are still working on scheduling our next screening, but keep an eye on this space or sign up for our newsletter HERE.

Please visit Gary King at his website: http://www.grking.com/ to get the latest news on all of his ongoing independent film projects and on the funding of his upcoming musical:
HOW DO YOU WRITE A JOE SCHERMANN SONG?  and how YOU can make it happen with a donation of as little as $1!

We have big plans as Spring approaches. I wish you all well.

  1. I love Gary King's can-do attitude! Very Yoda :)

l also find myself say "Gary King" instead of just Gary when talking about Gary King. I think that's how you know Gary King is more than a name. Now, he's like a brand with a promise.

    Very glad I've met him.
