Our 2010 Summer "Showcase" Schedule of Independent Movies

The Annapolis Pretentious Film Society takes pleasure in announcing our Summer Showcase film schedule for 2010. Instead of having a June screening, we will have TWO screenings in July at the Annapolis O'Callaghan Hotel. We will have individual postings for these movies up in the next few days.

Friday, July 9th, 7:30PM at the Annapolis O'Callaghan Hotel
The Waterhole
The Waterhole is the story of Miller, who takes sanctuary in a friend’s bar rather than deal with a failed relationship and pending college graduation. While his two best friends, Jim and Murphy, are taking steps to start new lives, Miller sinks in a world of one-night stands and hangovers, until a friend from his past returns bringing his world crashing down around him.

Person of Interest
Terrance Dyer is a veteran of the war in Iraq, a self-proclaimed American Patriot and seasoned combat fighter, now living underground in the streets of Seattle, and fighting an equally hair-trigger battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Led by an acute sense of paranoia, Terrance becomes convinced that the federal government is setting him up as the fall guy in a soon-to-be terrorist attack on American soil, yet his reactions to the paranoia unmistakably parallel that of a would-be terrorist.
After finding connection with a young journalist looking to tell his story, Terrance sinks rapidly into a heightened sense of morality and betrayal leading him inevitably toward violence.
At once controversial and definitive, vehemently proactive, and overwhelmingly relevant in a political climate charged with uncertainties, Person of Interest gives voice to a disenfranchised generation of soldiers, while bravely prodding at the seams of homegrown terrorism in the United States.

Starring J. Reuben Appleman
Directed by Gregory Bayne

Coming in Fall:
"What's Up Lovely?"

(APFS Alumni & Director of New York Lately)

In the dead of night, a recently unemployed insomniac wanders the streets of New York discovering a city beyond her wildest imagination.

Luci loses her job and times are tougher than ever.  Unable to sleep, she begins an after-hours journey embarking on a series of strange encounters as she wanders the dark metropolis.  During one unforgettable night, Luci comes face to face with her innermost fears and desires as she tries to find her way back home.

Based on a concept by Jenn Dees and Gary King, WHAT’S UP LOVELY is a drama about the struggle to survive the city while battling the enemy within ourselves.

Starring: Jenn Dees (In Attendance)

Directed by Gary King (In Attendance)

In addition to our "Showcase" screenings we will two new screening series - The APFS "Offbeat" screening series and the APFS "Edge" screening. We will also have "Secret Screenings" that will be "mildly announced," exclusive screenings for the devout APFS fan.

As always, I want to thank all sponsors, supporters, bloggers and filmmakers for making our screening series a growing success!

Kindest Regards,
